So this trip has been long time coming. We haven't been back to Utah to see family and friends for two years. Sarah was only 3 months old the last time we were home. The scariest thing was that we didn't know for sure until Thursday night (the 9th of April) if we were going to be able to go home or not. It wasn't until Michael got in the car and said drive! LOL So we hurried home and packed the car and left town a little after 7pm. The kids were excited and so was Michael and I! The best things about this trip was that no one, okay, my parents knew that we were coming home. Michael's brother Jason was mad at us because we told him we wouldn't be making it for Isabelle's blessing. Well lo and behold they had no clue we were coming. HEHEHE
So we headed out of Wichita Falls with it on fire. Everywhere we turned there was a fire. As we headed west the cooler it got. We drove like mad out of Texas and hit the border of New Mexico I was tired of driving so Michael took over and off we went again. It was fast approaching midnight Mountain time and we were all tired. We decided it was best for all of us to take a breather in a hotel and get up and make the long trek tomorrow. So we stopped off in Santa Rosa and enjoyed a good nights rest.
The next morning we were off again and things were going great. The time seemed to fly by until the lack of sleep caught up with us. Don't know what it is about driving all that time but the times seems to slow the closer you get to your destination. As we came into the Provo valley the kids were very excited that we were home in Utah. They were spotting the Y on the mountain and asking what it stood for. Then came the excited voices of the kids says, "Look Mom a temple!" So we made it appoint to point out all the temples to the kids as we made our way around the Provo area and up the Salt Lake Valley and then headed west to Tooele. We were all excited to see the two new temples in the Salt Lake Valley. The Draper temple is so beautiful and snuggled right into the mountains. What a perfect place for the temple. As we rounded the corner to headed North off to the west you can see the Quirrah Mountain Temple and then the Jordan River Temple. What a wonderful site it was.
We pulled into Tooele a little before 9 pm and were exhausted. There were many hugs and greetings. Soon after wards we found ourselves heading to bed.
We had a great time on our trip and I will post more with pictures of our weeks that came!
